India Launches Centre to Accelerate Adoption of Clean Energy Technologies
The Indian government has launched a new Centre of Excellence to Accelerate Adoption of Energy Efficient Technologies (UTPRERAK). The Centre, which is located in New Delhi, will serve as a platform for the demonstration, dissemination, and training of energy-efficient technologies.UTPRERAK is the brainchild of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a government agency that is responsible for promoting energy efficiency in India. The Centre is expected to play a key role in helping India meet its ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.The Centre has three demo halls that showcase energy-efficient technologies for five key sectors: iron and steel, cement, paper, chlor-alkali, and textiles.
