In a significant development, the Indian government has introduced the Nandi portal, a digital platform designed to simplify the process of granting No Objection Certificates (NOC) for veterinary drugs and vaccines. The initiative, spearheaded by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in the regulatory approval process for veterinary products.
The Nandi portal, developed through collaboration between the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), promises to revolutionize the assessment and examination of proposals for veterinary drugs and vaccines. By leveraging digital technology, the portal will streamline operations, ensuring a smoother and more effective approval process.
During the launch event, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the DAHD and emphasized the role of the Nandi portal in furthering the Digital India initiative. He underscored the importance of the platform in promoting the well-being of livestock and the livestock industry as a whole. Furthermore, Rupala commended the collaborative spirit demonstrated by various government departments, institutes, and industry stakeholders in the development of this portal.
The Nandi portal is set to seamlessly integrate with the CDSCO’s SUGAM portal, a move that will simplify the approval process for veterinary products even further. This integration will facilitate end-to-end coordination among departments, committees, subcommittees, and applicants, ensuring the smooth functioning of operations.
Rupala stressed the significance of closely monitoring the portal’s activities during its initial implementation phase to establish a robust and effective system. He expressed gratitude to the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) and all other stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the development of the Nandi portal.
Sanjeev Balyan, Minister of State for animal husbandry, dairying, and fisheries of India, also commended the efforts of the department in aligning with the Digital India mission. He highlighted the pivotal role of veterinary vaccines in preserving animal health, boosting production, and preventing the transmission of infectious diseases to humans.
With the launch of the Nandi portal, the Indian government demonstrates its commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of the veterinary sector. By introducing a streamlined approval process for veterinary drugs and vaccines, the government aims to enhance the overall well-being of livestock, facilitate increased productivity, and safeguard public health. The Nandi portal represents a significant step forward in advancing the Digital India initiative and fostering collaboration among stakeholders in the animal husbandry and dairying sectors.
