Indian Stainless Steel Industry Gathers Momentum at ISSE 2023 to Pave the Way for Growth

India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious vision of achieving a US$5 trillion economy, is poised for remarkable growth, and the stainless steel industry is set to play a vital role as a significant beneficiary of this economic expansion. Embracing stainless steel not only aligns with the country’s economic aspirations but also helps reduce the carbon footprint, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

With India emerging as the world’s fastest-growing market for stainless steel, the industry is witnessing a surge in demand, largely supported by initiatives like Make in India, Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), and increased focus on vital sectors such as Infrastructure, Railways, Defence, and Aerospace.

This economic upswing comes as a boon for the stainless steel sector, which has often been overshadowed by its larger counterpart, carbon steel. Challenges, including cheap dumping from neighboring countries and reduced demand for stainless steel utensils, have plagued the industry in the past. However, the sector now sees a silver lining in catering to the demands of various industries, including Railways, Oil & Gas, Green Hydrogen, Ethanol, Food Processing, Infrastructure, Chemical & Petrochemical, Building & Construction, and more.

Leading the charge in driving this growth is the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA), in partnership with Infinity Expo Private Limited and supported by its member companies. They are organizing an International Conference cum Exhibition on Stainless Steel, under the aegis of the Ministry of Steel, with support from the Ministry of Commerce, Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Niti Ayog, Invest India, Ministry of Railways, World Stainless Steel, Nickel Institute, in association with ISSMA, ISSDO, and various other sector-related associations. The event is scheduled to take place from the 3rd to the 5th of August 2023 at the India Expomart in Greater Noida.

This prestigious event will attract over 150 participating companies, covering the entire value chain, from input materials to processing machinery, finished products, and secondary processing techniques crucial to the stainless-steel sector. Over 8000 professionals connected to the industry will attend the event. In addition to the exhibition, a series of 10 Focused Roundtables will be held, exploring ways to increase the consumption of stainless steel in key sectors like Railways, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Energy, Chemical & Petrochemical, Pharma, Medical & Healthcare, Architecture, Building & Construction, among others.

An integral part of the event will be the presentation of excellence awards on the second day, honoring individuals and enterprises for their outstanding contributions to the development of the stainless steel sector.

The ISSE 2023 event has garnered participation from some of the industry’s leading names. Jindal Stainless Limited is proudly serving as the Presenting Partner, while Synergy Steel and Sunflag Steel have stepped up as the Platinum Partners. Ratnamani Metals, Novacel, TRL Krosaki, Avtar Steel, Sarvesh Metal, and other notable companies will also be actively involved. Furthermore, the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises will be supporting a dedicated pavilion, providing MSME enterprises with a platform to capitalize on the emerging opportunities in the industry.

The upcoming ISSE 2023 conference and exhibition promise to create a dynamic platform for the stainless steel industry, facilitating valuable networking, business transactions, and discussions that will propel the sector to new heights. With an eye on contributing to India’s ambitious economic goals and embracing sustainable practices, the industry is well-prepared to carve out its growth strategies in line with the nation’s vision for a prosperous future.
